Spiritual Partners 6, 3rd Parties

This weekend's Tucson events have just come to a close and sweetly kicked off DMU's Winter term. Spiritual Partners 6: Living with God featured two nights of teachings based on Arya Nagarjuna's 70 Verses and how to apply its wisdom to relationships. The coolest method, act kindly towards a third party and watch your own partnership change. Huh? For example, if you want a partner who's receptive to you, listen better to the folks at work. And dedicate your goodness. Pretty radical. To find out how this all works just download and listen to the audio files. The link is right here.

Winter Term Registration Now Open

As of a few moments ago online registration for Winter term is now open. Campus schedules, the course catalog, and the additional necessary forms are also on the site. So go and sign up.

PS. Please, please fill in the required printed forms for our lovely registrar. If you don't you may have to suffer the wrath of the assistant debate master. And that's trouble.

Winter Wonderland

Diamond Mountaineers awoke to the sight of something like powdered sugar covering the land. Investigation has shown the substance to be snow, everywhere. Dr. David has provided us all with some great shots of DM on this infrequent occasion. It's quite lovely, but for all those in the campground the pleasantness may only last for as long as they can feel their toes. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Update (23.1.07)
Venerable Phil has also posted some pics from the latest snowfall.

Never Miss a Party, Holiday Dates

Are you always worried you're going to miss a Buddhist holiday? Do you live in constant fear of forgetting when the next raging party is (by raging I mean in a Buddhist meditative sort of way)? Thanks to the kind folks at our cousin center, Rashi Gempil Ling in New Jersey, the Diamond Mountian website now has those important dates. Consider you're fingernails saved from worried bites.
The calendar covers Vajrayogini Tsechu, Sojong, and other notable holidays in Gregorian calendar dates and with their lunar date equivalents. You can access the list from the DM Events page, or directly through this link.

Work Day and Tsechu Fun

Today was the pre-term work day and Vajrayogini Day and we've got the pictures to prove it. The labor began at 1:00 PM DMT (Diamond Mountain Time) and included the much anticipated digging and rock-moving that I've mentioned many times prior. Too, some painting went on at the Ani Gompa House, cleaning at the bathhouse, and firewood chopping wherever that was needed. The day was concluded with dinner and a proper tsok. A splendid time was had by all. It was great to see everyone before the term.

Some images from the day are online. I hope you enjoy them.

Pre-Term Work Day and Tsok: Jan. 13th

One week from today DM will host a type of pre-term community service day. Work begins at 1PM (that leaves enough morning time for meditation and yoga). Following the hard labor will be a pot luck dinner. That means bring some goodies. "That's a great deal," you're probably saying. But wait, there's more. Dinner will be followed by a Vajrayogini Tsechu ceremony (for those with initiation) and tsok (all are invited to feast). All this for the low price of your presence.

What to bring: hats, gloves, dinner, tsok offerings, ritual implements, and warm clothes.

See you there.

DharmaStudent.com Takes Rebirth, DharmaTeachings.com

One of my favorite Dharma related websites was DharmaStudent.com. The site had audio and video teachings which I couldn't find anywhere else. Over a year ago the site went down and with it access to those precious files. Well, the site is back! DharmaTeachings.com is the new address of this priceless website. I know that I owe lots of thanks to Michael Dunn for getting everything back online. If there are others who are involved with this let me know so I can give them a big thanks too.

Run on over to DharmaTeachings.com and learn something great.

DM Three-Year Retreat Website

Lamas Ora and Jamie have been hard at work. They have set up a website covering all aspects of the upcoming three-year retreat at Diamond Mountain. The site is thorough. Oodles of info is available including fund raising, preliminary training, and, my favorite, biographies of each retreatant. There's even a section on the many different projects in the Worldview family and description of what they offer and how they help.

One note, the website will be eventually moving to another place. The url "worldviewarchive.org" will become the home for an extensive library of all teachings (audio, video, printed) of Geshe Michael and students -- a one-stop-shop for any teaching related to ACI or DM. I can't wait.
