I Walk the Line

Today I had the pleasure of being escorted around what will be the three-year retreat area. David Stumpf showed Ben Kramer, Michael Brannan, and me around the hills and valleys of the DM brush. In the process we set out some property markers to make things easier later. The land is quite beautiful and extreme. There also is not alot of it and things might be a little more crowded than some are expecting. Once the permits are cleared we should be able to start building huts by early summer, perhaps May 1st. We're going to need help so come out and lend a hand. Be a part of this historic event.

Dagpo Monastery

In a recent post I wrote about this summer's upcoming India adventure to hear Geshe Thubten Rinchen. Today I got a look at Dagpo Monastery which will be host to the event for 12 days. It looks amazing. Dagpo Rinpoche, who now lives in France, had the monastery built in 2004 for his monks. The temple holds 500 people and looks magnificent. I recommend you check out the website yourself. If you can't read French, click on the top word realisations then on Kais. There you'll find some a-lingual images of the place.

Winter Term Ends

Another term has come and gone and with it the greatest students, teachers, and yogis on the planet. It was a wild term. I think it'll take a few weeks just to ground ourselves again. This isn't an option for most however. There's loads of 'tween-term events happening. Here are just a few:
Hatha Yoga Pradipika, NYC
Star in the East events in Texas (yeehaw!)
and
The Wheel of Life teachings in Texas (yeehaw again!)

Thanks for a fantastic term. See y'all soon.

Geshe Thubten Rinchen to Teach

Sera Mey teacher Geshe Thubten Rinchen has agreed to teach the third and final installment of The Essence of Eloquence on the Art of Interpretation. After many requests Gen-la said he would give these teachings for twelve days beginning June 24, 2006 in Manali, India.

This series of teachings began in 1998 when fifteen students went to Sera Monastery to receive the classes. In 2000 a much larger group of about eighty students attended the second installment of what is considered Je Tsongkapa’s greatest and most difficult work on how to interpret the Buddha’s words. This third installment will cover the Middle-Way Schools of Buddhism. I know, wow!

All are invited and encouraged to come. This will be the largest group yet. And to accomplish this the word is being spread far and wide. I don’t have contact details yet other that letting Christine Sperber know you would like to come. If you don’t know who that is please stay posted and I’ll get an official Manali 2006 email address for everyone.
