Adobe Stacking Begins!

Yesterday we began the stacking of adobe blocks for the first time. We are starting on the bathroom/shower room that is located next to the temple site. We made some good progress in our first day getting about 3 1/2 courses (layers) finished. If all goes well we could have the wall at full height within two weeks. Photos to come shortly. I just have to get them from David P.

Bagged Earth House

This is the first of hopefully many bagged earth houses to get started. This layout is a single room intended for retreat purposes. The idea is to build around 30 of these cottages over the next couple years scattered around DM's 1000 acres for people to do their retreats. For more info on the technology check out Cal-Earth.

Campground Images

The DM campground is a beautiful place. There are 5 yurts total. 2 large, 2 small, and a community/kitchen yurt. There is running water at outdoor taps and some restroom facility. But too bad for all our laptop users there is no electricity. If you are considering camping at DMU for the fall quarter be prepared, it may not be easy for you. Email Eric (embrinkman@hotmail.com) or Earle (shunyata@vtc.net) for questions.
