Photastic Diamond Mountain

Some know, a few don't, and many often need to be reminded that shutter-happy Diamond Mountaineers have a cache of Diamond Mountain photos online.  The ever-increasing photo archive can be found at http://flickr.com/photos/diamondmountain.  If you're one of those shutterbugs, and you'd like to see your images online, talk to me (Evan) and we'll get 'em up for all to enjoy!

The latest pictures as of this post are of the second community service day of Fall term 2008.

Darren Rhodes Event at Diamond Mountain

On Sunday, October 26th yoga teacher extraordinaire Darren Rhodes will lead an all-levels yoga class in the temple.  The event, which will take place from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, will be scored by live music performed by our own talented Diamond Mountain musicians/students.

If you're not familiar with Darren he is one of the premier Anusara yoga teachers in the world and his remarkable asana skills have been featured in this Anusara series poster.  He is also owner and teacher at Tucson's Yoga Oasis and he has been listed as one of Yoga Journal's most influential young yoga teachers.

The class is bound (get it?) to be a memorable Diamond Mountain event.

Fall Term Yoga Schedule

You may think that as Buddhists all we do is meditate and debate, but there's more to Diamond Mountain than just the monastic goodies.  A big part of daily practice at DM is yoga... a big, sweaty part.  Daily group yoga practices are led every day (except Wednesdays) in the temple from 9:30 - 11:30 AM.  And if you didn't know, DM has some of the finest yoga instructors in the nation and they all teach here for free.  Classes range from beginner to advanced to levitation.  Now, thanks to Jessica Kung we have a downloadable schedule for the term so you can plan accordingly.

Listen Live to DMU

This may be old news to some, but perhaps many don't know; you can listen live to several Diamond Mountain University courses live via streaming audio. And it's not just a one-way relationship, you can also chat online live with other students during the class to ask questions or discuss points. For all of those people who love DM courses but can't make it out for a term (and there are thousands) this is a great way to soak up some ancient wisdom from wherever you may be.

The courses that offer this as of Fall term 2008 are:
Sacred Classics Translator: Mondays 5:30 - 7:30 PM MST
Karmic Management Training: Fridays 5:30 - 7:30 PM MST
Ticket to Heaven: Mondays and Fridays 3:15 - 5:00 PM MST
Hypertexting: Tuesdays 4:00 - 5:15 PM MST

For instructions on watching/listening live and chat visit this page on the DM Wiki.
