Found - A piece of Bowie past

If you've been to Diamond Mountain then no doubt you have seen "The Teepee" in Bowie. Today I found this old postcard on the internet displaying what this landmark once was. The back of the card reads: "Erected near where Chief Geronimo of the Apaches was captured. Stop in for a bottle of beer! Clifford B. Head, Proprietor"

    Bird's Eye

I stumbled upon a great aerial photography website and thought it would be neat to find Diamond Mountain. This photo was taken in 1992, before we settled the land. Check it out.

Today Eric, Earle and I are going to grade some DMU Fall Term homeworks. If you haven't sent yours in, you'd better hurry ;-) You can send them to:

    Winter Term Dates

I got the official word on Diamond Mountain University Winter Term. Here are the dates:
    January 7th, 2004 - February 10th, 2004

That's right, this term begins on a Friday.

Prior to the term beginning, Geshe Michael and Christie will be giving a Star in the East teaching in Tucson from January 4th to the 6th. The talk is intended for a Christian audience, but Diamond Mountain people are welcome.

    Hypertexting

One project the DM folks have been given is to do some hypertexting. Don't know what it is? Well, Eric Brinkman will be leading an online class on it this Friday at 7:30 PM EST (5:30 DM time). This is a really great way to help save books and learn Tibetan.

To join the online class follow the "chat" instructions that Ted posted here:

    See you in the chat.

    New Look, New Info

Welcome back to the blog. Over the term I had a great number of people tell me how much they appreciated this blog and how it helped them arrive at DM. So, I have to keep it going. It's a real pleasure for me too.

The term ended two weeks ago and things have really quieted down at Diamond Mountain. This past week Venerable Elly began leading a Lam Rim retreat (daily schedule). Each day they have four meditation sessions, a yoga session, some rest time, and meals. I've been hearing great things. It is an open retreat and anyone who wishes can join in for a part, even a single meditation for just one day. She's really leaving it open.

Some work is being done on the land too. The bagged earth house is getting finished. And Bliss just completed an amazing painting at Jamyang House (the main classroom/temple). Pictures soon.
